We went over-the-top with our swimming pool. We hired local pool legend Joan Roca, who has designed luxury swimming areas for many celebrity pleasure homes in Costa Rica, including supermodel Gisele and Mel Gibson.

The result was a gigantic infinity pool, generous for most small hotels. An upper sitting pool with Jacuzzi jets gently cascades into a lower, larger pool. A small ledge behind the waterfall provides a grotto area where guests can let the water rush over them.

The swim up bar is an excellent place to sip a tropical cocktail while enjoying the stunning ocean views. The same bar is also accessible from a dry sitting area with a rustic rancho roof that offers shade on a typical sunny Guanacaste day.
